ABSTRACT

This research aims to prove the content validity of the character measurement instrument of students’ tolerance in elementary school. The instrument of measuring the tolerance character in this study was developed into three aspects, namely (a) respect, (b) acceptance, and (c) appreciation. Then, it is formulated into eight behavioral indicators, and developed into 35 items. This research method uses a descriptive research method with quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of proofing validity are carried out by experts and analyzed using Aiken’s V formula. Content validity data is obtained from three experts in different fields consisted of character education experts, measurement experts, and inclusion education experts. The results showed that the validity of the contents coefficient of 35 items in the tolerance character measurement instrument contained 33 items that were declared valid with a value ≥ 0.83. Thus, the 33 items on the tolerance character measurement instrument have good content validity, and support the validity of the instrument’s overall content. Therefore, this instrument can be used to identify the level of tolerance character of elementary school students.
