Quasi-experimental research was carried out to determine the effectiveness of the learning model that had been designed, in the discussion of teaching materials on students’ abilities and self-confidence. The subjects of this study were teachers and students from SMKN 01, SMKN 02, and SMKN 03 in Bengkulu City. Two classes from each school were chosen as the experimental class and the control class. The results of research with the project based learning model can improve students’ abilities and confidence. Students are more creative, independent, confident and fun because students can complete learning projects in groups.
