ABSTRACT

The regulation of nutraceuticals varies widely between different countries regarding these health supplements. Probiotics, prebiotics, food additives, and health supplements all fall under the gamut of nutraceuticals. Health supplements are often defined as substances used either individually or in combination intending to provide the body with micronutrients when required. In Singapore, the Health Science Authority (HSA) regulates health products to meet standards of safety, quality, and efficacy. Health supplements are however not subject to pre-market evaluation and approval by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA). Stability is an essential factor of quality in health supplements (HS) to ensure maintenance of the specifications of the finished product when packed in its specified packaging material and stored at the established storage condition within the specified shelf life. For health supplements, stability data from at least two batches is required.
