ABSTRACT

The International Medical Device School (IMDS) provides a comprehensive syllabus which covers different considerations involved in bringing a medical device into commercialization. The IMDS adopts a holistic coverage in content allowing for individuals to appreciate the depth of the syllabus even without prior experience in the industry. Regulatory models, their differences and focus are also discussed. Stakeholders being familiar with these regulatory models opens the understanding of how medical devices are to be prepared prior to market entry and how to be managed post-market as well. The IMDS program was also densely packed, yet allowing for small breaks between sessions and time for thoughtful rumination of the discussed content. The multidimensional experience with the IMDS provides the participants a complete perspective on the lifecycle of medical devices. Currently, IMDS has also attracted various overseas institutions’ efforts to collaborate in order to fund and train the local medtech professionals.
