ABSTRACT

The effect of bridge foundation in the vehicle-bridge dynamic interaction system is studied in this paper. The contributions of the foundation are simplified into 6 translation and rotation springs by the m-method, then the additional stiffness of the substructure and foundation is added to the nodes at the bottom of the piers. As a case, a 54 + 90 + 90 + 54 m continuous beam bridge is studied by computer simulation. The dynamic responses of the vehicle-bridge system with and without considering the effect of the foundation are calculated, and the contribution and the sensitivity of the foundation are analyzed.
