ABSTRACT
A one dimensional FEM analysis technique is presented for layered soils. It aims to investigate the interaction and relationship between the body waves (P-wave and S-wave) and the surface waves (Rayleigh and Love waves). This technique is very simple, and a useful tool for the analysis of the surface waves due to traffic vibration. It is expected that this method can be applied to evaluate surface wave nature during the strong earthquakes as well.
