ABSTRACT

Dynamic characteristics of the train-bridge interaction system are clarified by means of three-dimensional dynamic analysis using a 15 DOF bullet train model and the reaction forces at the pier bottoms of the viaducts are calculated. Employing the reaction forces as input excitations, site vibration around the viaducts is analyzed using a general program. Analytical results are compared with experimental ones to demonstrate the validity of the analytical procedure. Therefore, a reliable and effective approach to simulate the site vibration around Shinkansen viaducts is established. Especially in this analytical procedure, with a 15 DOF train model that can express sway and yawing motions of the bullet train, horizontal dynamic responses of the bridge as well as of the ground can be simulated.
