Vibration effects on sensitive instruments due to metro trains are complicated. According to the study on mitigation measures of one segment of Beijing subway, comprehensive measures are proposed to reduce the vibration effects on instruments from several aspects including design, construction, operation and vibration isolation of instruments. The design philosophy is put forward in the paper. Four kinds of floating slab track frames are set out tentatively, whose effects are compared by numerical analysis using ANSYS program. The normal and T form floating slab tracks are recommended with special measures adopted to mitigate the basic frequency vibration. The horizontal vibration below 4 Hz is mainly reduced by vibration isolation on the ground. Vibration isolation foundations of some special precise instruments are used or improved. Treatment methods of vibration reduction in construction and operation are also presented.
