ABSTRACT

A vibration mitigation countermeasure using gas-filled cushion has been proposed in recent years and several experiments have been conducted in some countries. Because gas cushion material has characteristics of both open trench and concrete wall barrier, it may be the same effective as open trench for vibration mitigation countermeasure in low frequency range. A numerical analysis is carried out in order to investigate the vibration isolation effect of a hybrid model, which consists of a sheet pile and gas/water-filled cushions. The vibration mitigation countermeasure using the hybrid model using gas-filled cushion has a significant vibration isolation effect in comparison with the concrete wall barrier or the sheet pile barrier.
