ABSTRACT

In order to develop an effective and practical method against ground vibration caused by running trains and cars, the authors tried to apply sheet pile walls barrier beside of real railway tracks. And PC wall-piles wave barrier and EPS (Expanded Poly-styrene) wave barrier also were constructed along the real elevated roads. Field tests were carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of these countermeasures for reducing the ground vibrations. An estimation method for vibration reduction by these wave barriers is presented, being based on FEM simulation analysis.
