ABSTRACT

PC wall-piles are practically used as the ground vibration barrier in the field works. Their effectiveness of reducing the ground vibration level was recognized, however, PC wall-piles could not isolate all range of ground vibration and their isolation mechanism was not fully understood. In this study, the isolation mechanism was examined through the field model tests using different weight of PC wall-piles and a numerical simulation. High isolation effect of ground vibration and the transition of isolation mechanism as the pile weight increasing were recognized through the field model tests. The heavy PC wall-piles reduced the ground vibration level by the reflection and light PC wall piles by the transmission of ground vibration.
