ABSTRACT
Both European Union and Accession Countries agreed on the integrated testing of the Guidance Document on Implementing the GIS Elements of the Water Framework Directive in selected Pilot River Basins (PRB). Eleven PRBs were selected, including the Szamos/Somes international River Basin. Pilot River Basin testing on the Szamos/Somes River Basin was a joint, Hungarian-Romanian project lasted from October 2002 to 30 November 2003. The following Guidance Documents were tested in the project: Identification of Water Bodies, Monitoring, Economical analyses, GIS. Present paper summarises the findings of GIS Guidance Document testing.
