ABSTRACT

The genus “Bandicota” is represented by two species: the lesser bandicoot rat, Bandicota bengalensis and the larger bandicoot rat, B. indica. Β. bengalensisis distributed over much of Southeast Asia. B. indica distribution includes Formosa and Hong Kong in addition. Although described as a field rat since the early 1900s, B. bengalensis has successfully invaded urban habitats especially godowns and warehouses.
