ABSTRACT

Close traps during the day to prevent mice from dying in overheated traps. In some areas, traps may also be set during the day provided a covering of some sort is furnished for the trap to shield it from direct sunlight. When the trap door is opened, the mouse will run into the bag. Quickly secure the opening of the bag and remove the trap. Grab the mouse by the skin at the back of the neck through the bag. Fold back the bag so that the mouse lies in your hand with its abdomen facing you. No gloves are needed provided care is taken once animal is outside of bag. If the animal is to be weighed, do so before you evert the bag. While examining the mouse, take care that its nose is not wedged in the corner of the bag, for it will suffocate.
