ABSTRACT

The Everglades of South Florida is a unique ecosystem in North America. Climate in the Everglades is highly seasonal. There is a summer wet season, during which the Everglades is flooded, and a winter dry season, when parts of the Everglades may become a dry dusty plain. There are two natural habitat types in the Everglades. The first is the open expanse of prairie dominated by sawgrass. The second habitat type consists of tree islands. Peromyscus gossypinus ranges throughout the southeastern US Sigmodon hispidus ranges throughout the south central eastern US and south in to Mexico. Use large Sherman traps baited with oats and set in high-density grids.
