ABSTRACT
Deer mice (Peromyscus maniculatus) are a widely distributed forest species of small mammal found throughout most of North America. P. maniculatus is primarily nocturnal and can usually be captured more easily during the warmer months due to short-term torpor in extremely low temperatures and reduced home range size in winter. 1 P. maniculatus generally exhibits only annual fluctuations as a result of seasonal breeding. 2
