ABSTRACT
Field voles are common in successional grasslands (e.g., abandoned fields and forest clearcuts) in western and northern Europe and are important as pests in forestry and horticulture. Forecasting of population peaks is usually based on trapping methods, but counts of signs may also be utilized.
