ABSTRACT

The specific heat of iron and steels depends on temperature, composition and heat treatment. Thermal electromotive force from a temperature gradient test can show thermoelement chemical and mechanical homogeniety.

Corrections are needed/possible/useful for: non-adiabaticity in adiabatic calorimeters; non-radial heat flow in radial heat flow systems; non-longitudinal heat flow in longitudial heat flow systems.

Heat conduction computer programs can be helpful in understanding intentional changes to an apparatus and in designing new test systems. The thermal resistivity of closed cell foams decreases with time due to intrusion of air and loss of foaming gas.
