ABSTRACT

To compare the effect of inferior oblique anterior transposition (AT) to graduated recession (GR) in the correction of “V” patterns due to inferior oblique overaction (IOOA). Charts review of surgically treated cases which were divided in two groups, AT or GR. Age, initial V pattern and amount of correction were analyzed for each group. There was no difference between groups for age (p=0,066), initial V pattern (p=0,15) and amount of correction (p=0,78). There was significant correlation between initial V pattern and amount of correction for GR, AT and both (when the two groups were analyzed together). AT seems to be as efficient as GR in the correction of “V” pattern due to inferior oblique overaction.
