The design and performance of driven-cast-in-situ piles in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Several large projects incorporating piled foundations have recently been completed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Most of these have utilized driven-cast-in-situ piles with bulbous bases. Full scale static load tests have been conducted on most of these projects. This paper reports on the results of these tests and gives recommendations for the design of this pile type in local conditions.
