ABSTRACT
In the current plastic and elastic standards, in relation to this subject, and in many other foreign standards, there are no specific rules concerning compression flange welds of beam-to-column connections. Calculations made with respect to such welds are worked out as if they are equivalent of tension flange welds. The results of an experimental study on 36 welded connections, reveal that a significant reduction in weld thickness is possible for compression flanges.
