ABSTRACT

The main nonlinear phenomena that govern the deformational behavior of early-age concrete are the evolution of the stiffness properties, the development of thermal and shrinkage strains, creep and cracking. In this article, a set of particularly useful features provided by DIANA for this kind of application is presented thanks to the analysis of a purification wall construction. Calculation of temperature and stress evolutions is carried out in a quite complex situation for which a one way coupled thermo-mechanical analysis has been set in combination with a phased analysis. Both the background theory and the construction of the finite element model is presented with special emphasis to the Japanese design code.
