ABSTRACT

In order to evaluate the stability and excavated deformation of the underground powerhouse, DDA is used as one of numerical methods during the design stage. In this paper, by means of DDA, the development of deformation and state of stress for the main opening are studied under two situations of without reinforcement and reinforcement by rockbolts, and the maximum displacement and locations of they occurring are given. The computation results show the underground cavern after reinforcement using system bolts is stable, and bolts decrease effectively the deformation of rock masses surrounding the opening.
