ABSTRACT

After a brief report of some notices about the diffusion and about the present distribution of the grape phylloxera (Viteus vitifoliae (Fitch)), the Authors give a survey of some of the research subjects presently going on phylloxera in Italy. These themes are schematized in 9 points: the first four describe studies on different aspects of phylloxera on european grapevines on their own roots, others (points n. 5 and 7) indicate the eco-ethological observations carried on phylloxera in field and in laboratory. Another branch of studies in which many Entomologists are investigating, is the one regarding the causes determining the appearance of foliar galls of phylloxera on the leaves of grafted european grapevines. Also some researches on the relations between phylloxera and other organisms (bacteria, fungi and, especially, viruses) are reported.
