ABSTRACT

Fumigation with bromopropylate, examination of the sealed brood and adult bees inside and outside the hive were tested for diagnosis. The latter proved to be the most practical and economical, and preferable in the case of rapid investigations especially in rustic bee-keeping and wild populations. Therapeutic methods tested suitable to the typical climate of the island were bromopropylate fumigation with removal or blocking of brood at the end of summer, and use of natural substances in spring. Some satisfactory methods practised by bee-keepers are discussed.
