ABSTRACT

Today’s healthcare data is generated by organizations, suppliers, researchers, sensors, patients, clinics, and mobile phones. The major hurdle in the healthcare systems is how to collect, evaluate, and process data to improve persons’ lives by helping them understand about their emerging illnesses and treatments, and anticipate results at a prior stage and make real-time decisions. This chapter describes how big data enhances treatment and empowers researchers, caregivers, and patients, which explains the possible benefits of big data in healthcare. The chapter also explains the importance of big data analytics that could be used to improve patient’s well-being. Challenges occurred in big data analytics have also been highlighted in the chapter.
