ABSTRACT

Big data is a buzzword. It is an assemblage of bulky or multifarious data that is very hard to process using conventional data processing applications. Big data characteristics can be considered with five V’s such as Value, Volume, Velocity, Veracity, and Variety. When organizations are ready to analyze “big data”, they often have gigantic challenges, which include study, capture, prioritization, exploration, exchange of data, storage, transmit, visualization, privacy and security issues, and delivering business intelligence on time. Big data analytics is the practice of probing huge data of varying types to reveal unseen patterns, indefinite correlations, and discovering information. For this purpose, various methods are used such as Hadoop and MapReduce. Today the world is dealing with a big problem in the form of a pandemic i.e. COVID-19. It is a virus that outbreaks from China and has spread worldwide. World Health Organization has declared an emergency in Jan 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic is the most critical universal health catastrophe of the century and the biggest challenge that the world is facing today. This virus has affected the whole world. All the governments of the world have imposed a lockdown policy in their countries. This lockdown has a very adverse effect on almost all the sectors whether it is petrochemical, education, small-scale industries, or large-scale industries. Some of the countries which are majorly affected by this virus are the United States of America, India, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, etc. In this chapter, the diverse effects of this virus on different countries and their causes are compared. To carry out the analysis, Google Colaboratory with python code along with COVID-19 data available on GitHub has been used.
