ABSTRACT

Over the last decade, mobile devices have spread widely into every area of people’s lives, becoming their inseparable companions. Devices are constantly being improved, as new models with serious computing power and capabilities are constantly being released; this is a prerequisite for their use for a number of everyday activities. This significantly changed the perceptions of employees’ activity in the corporate environment as well as the dimensions of business. The considerable increase in company productivity, mainly through staff mobile device usage, has led to the development and promotion of various concepts, such as bring your own device (BYOD), choose your own device (CYOD), corporate-owned, personally enabled (COPE), and so forth, which have different ideologies regarding the free use of mobile devices in a corporate environment and the intervention of management in the control over and ownership of devices.

The objectives of this study are the concepts for effective mobile device management in a corporate environment. The aim is to research the use of mobile devices in a corporate environment and to illustrate the importance of the concepts applied by organizations. Methods such as analysis, synthesis, attitude method, observation method and research approach are used. The basic concepts for mobile device management are discussed in detail, as well as key tools that complement the application of the concepts. The findings show that organizations are overwhelmingly moving towards the BYOD approach with the addition of specific internal control tools. The practical significance of the research is expressed in the description of the situation with mobile devices in companies and the tools and applications that specifically are used, the formulation of guidelines to improve mobile device control systems, as well as systems that are accessible by these devices.
