ABSTRACT

Existing Gas-Insulated Metal-enclosed Transmission Line(GIL) breakdown point positioning methods have poor anti-interference ability. In order to improve the accuracy of GIL breakdown point location, based on the characteristics of sound waves generated by GIL breakdown discharge, this paper proposes a precise location and simple method for locating acoustic faults. The arc breakdown site was regarded as the sound source, and the sound wave signals in the pipe gallery were collected. We use Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) method to locate the arc. Using the linear microphone array and the TDOA positioning algorithm, a digital positioning system for the GIL breakdown point was built, and a simulation experiment of the location of the explosion sound source was performed. The experimental results show that the positioning error is less than 5%, which provides a new idea for the on-site positioning of GIL breakdown points. It has a good application prospect in mid-to-long distance transmission systems such as offshore nuclear power plants.
