ABSTRACT

Experimental studies are performed to investigate the performance of stiffened plate under plane shock wave. The dynamic response is studied in an explosion-proof tank with a 400g TNT explosive, and the plastic deformation and acceleration of the specimen are investigated. The experimental results indicate that the deformation curves on structure surface have symmetry during the plastic deformation process. The plastic deformation which was mainly concentrated in non-stiffener area in the stiffened panel showed that stiffener is an efficient way to enhance the blast resistance of panel. The results can offer useful information for investigating the impact behavior of a stiffened panel during air blast.
