ABSTRACT

A review of the investigation on pipe buckling, propagation and complicated loading conditions is introduced in the present study. Both numerical simulation and experiments have been used to analyze the pipe buckling mechanism under different loading conditions and corrosion. All of the buckling experiments were conducted by Deep Water Structural Laboratory in Tianjin University. With the upgrading of full-scale and reduced-scale hyperbaric chambers, combined loading conditions including bending-pressure, axial tension-pressure and torsion-pressure can be achieved for testing pipe’s load carrying capacity.
