ABSTRACT

Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) is an auxiliary diagnostic tool that is increasingly used in dentistry and, therefore, would be an asset if it were subjected to airway segmentation, increasing the probability of detecting any anomaly and, consequently, assist in the screening of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS). The main aim of this study is to determine the usefulness of CBCT in the early detection of oropharyngeal constriction, since it is an anatomical factor predisposing to OSAS. Considerable percentages were verified associated to the risk of OSAS, more specifically, 14.3% to the high risk and 28.6% to the moderate risk.
