      ABSTRACT

Household waste is one of the biggest environmental problem that often occurs in Indonesia, both in urban and rural areas. This is also happened in Tanggulun Village, Kadungora District, Garut Regency. Most of the villagers still throw their household waste into the river or burn them in the yard. This research was conducted by means of literature studies, field surveys, open interviews with the village officials, also pretest and posttest regarding household waste management. Pretest and posttest are conducted to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitude towards household waste management. Community assistance is carried out by providing direct counseling and practice by professional speakers and facilitators who understand the environment, especially the problem of waste. After providing community assistance in household waste management, the community's knowledge has become more open and increased. This is indicated by the results of the posttest has a better score than pretest. In the future, the community is expected to be able to carry out good household waste management so that waste can have economic benefits and improve the community's economy.
