ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to provide an overview of the coaching program for the preschool teachers (PAUD) to improve skills and competence in early detection of students with special needs in their respective schools. Early detection is an important thing to do in order that students can get early and appropriate treatment so that they are able to adjust to the environmental demands according to their capacities. The coaching program was conducted in thrice face-to-face meeting by providing insight about children with special needs, identification steps, conducting observation and interview training, and making referrals to the professionals. Based on qualitative evaluation methods, after using example-discussion-feedback process trough study cases, teachers could be more understand what steps must be taken to identify and describe students problems in school. Thus a more valid and reliable method is still needed in order that the program can achieve the goals that meet the needs of PAUD teachers more broadly.
