Fibrils are dark, elongated, curvilinear patterns in the CHROMOSPHERE as seen through a filter that isolates the Hα spectral absorption line of hydrogen. Well-developed fibrils occur in and around SOLAR ACTIVE REGIONS (figure 1) and SOLAR FILAMENT CHANNELS.
