ABSTRACT

Cygnus X-1 is one of the strongest x-ray sources. It is the first celestial object for which we had reasonably convincing evidence that it is a BLACK HOLE. Its x-ray properties include an ultra-soft spectrum, compared to massive x-ray binaries containing a neutron star, rapid (∼1 s) flickering, and high/low flux states with different spectral characteristics
