ABSTRACT
Born in Bath, England, a teacher and translator of scientific work from the Arabic, Adelard traveled in France, Italy, Syria and Palestine. On returning to Bath, he translated Euclid's Elements from Arabic, and his translation became for centuries the chief geometry textbook in the West.
