ABSTRACT
Greek astronomer, mathematician, born in Cnidus (on the Resadiye peninsula, now Turkey). First astronomer to produce a detailed description of the stars and constellations. His work is now lost but known through the extensive borrowing by ARATUS in his Phenomena. Proposed a geocentric system for the solar system in which the Sun, Moon and planets moved on spheres centered on the Earth
