ABSTRACT
At the Alleghany Observatory, University of Pittsburgh, the Thaw 0.76 m f/18 red-light refractor and Multichannel Astrometric Photometer is a major contributor of accurate parallaxes, stellar masses and the astrometic search for extra solar planets. Founded in 1869, the Observatory established the standard time service, often called Rail-Road Time.
