ABSTRACT
The point in an elliptical orbit at which the orbiting body is closest to the body it is orbiting. The prefix `apo-' or `ap-' may be attached to various words or roots depending on the body being orbited: for example, apastron for an orbit round a star; apojove for an orbit around Jupiter.
