ABSTRACT
A type of rock composed of small, shattered and crushed (and sometimes melted) angular fragments cemented together in a finer-grained material. Breccias are produced by impacts. The shock from the impact of even a meter-sized body on a planetary surface may be sufficient to compact and weld surface material into breccias
