The direction of motion of the Sun relative to the stars in the local part of the Galaxy is known as the solar apex, or the apex of the Sun's way. Observations of the proper motions of stars indicate that they show a tendency to diverge from a point in the constellation Hercules, and to converge towards a point in the constellation Columba
