ABSTRACT
NASA mission to study the solar corona, interplanetary medium, solar wind and cosmic rays. Launched August 1997 and placed in a halo orbit at the L1 Lagrangian point between Earth and Sun. It carries six high-resolution spectrometers and three monitoring instruments with a collecting power 10 to 1000 times greater than past or planned experiments
