ABSTRACT

The curve obtained by cutting a right circular cone with a plane which does not pass through the apex of that cone. If the plane makes an angle relative to the base which is less than the angle of slope of the side of the cone, an ellipse is obtained. If the plane is parallel to the base, the special case of a circle arises. A plane parallel to the side produces a parabola
