ABSTRACT
NASA ultraviolet observatory launched in August 1972. Operated for nine years. Carried an 80 cm Cassegrain telescope and spectrograph which covered the range 75–300 nm, giving wide spectral coverage and very high resolution. Used to study the interstellar medium and outer coronae of stars
