ABSTRACT
A long-period comet first detected by Richard West in November 1975. It passed perihelion (0.20 AU) on 25 February 1976, shortly after which it attained its maximum magnitude of −2, but at this time it was close to the Sun and not easily observed. It became better placed in mid March, when it made its closest approach to Earth (0.8 AU)
