ABSTRACT

The first Trojan asteroid to be discovered, by Max Wolf in 1906, designated (588) Achilles. It belongs to the largest group of Trojans, orbiting ahead of Jupiter around the L4 Lagrangian point. It has an estimated diameter of 147 km, and orbits the Sun at a mean distance of 5.17 AU (774 million km) in a period of 11.78 years. The inclination is 10° and the eccentricity 0.15
