ABSTRACT
The region of the solar system, between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, where the greatest numbers of asteroids are found, is known as the main belt. Asteroids that orbit in this region are known as main-belt asteroids. The belt does not have well-defined limits. In terms of the semi-major axes of asteroid orbits, by far the greatest concentration lies between about 2.1 and 3.25 AU
