ABSTRACT

A periodic meteor shower that produced November meteor storms after the break-up of Comet 3D/Biela in the 1850s. The shower, also known as the Andromedids, had its radiant in the constellation Andromeda. The comet, which had a period of 6.6 years, was last seen in 1852. In 1872, when it should have made a favorable return, there occurred instead a meteor storm peaking at 6000 per hour
