The largest known fall of a carbonaceous chondrite. On 8 February 1969 an exceptionally brilliant fireball was seen in the skies of northern Mexico, followed by a series of sonic booms. The next day a meteorite was found in the village of Pueblito de Allende. This was the first of hundreds of fragments, totalling 2 tonnes, subsequently collected from the surrounding area
